Eat & Drink
Coffee before class, burgers after dark, lakeside dinners, old taverns, local beer and somewhere to get fed when every sensible decision has already been made.
Local Favourites
Where Ravenlake actually goesHalf-Moon Diner
Out on the eastern edge of town, Half-Moon has been feeding night-shift workers, road-trippers and Ravenlake teenagers with nowhere else to go for years. Go hungry.
Late Bloomer Brewing Co.
Ashton Village’s independent brewery and taproom. Local beer, a relaxed crowd and exactly the sort of place where one drink has a habit of becoming three.
Raven’s Roast
Reliable coffee, cake and light food right in Downtown. Students study here, locals meet here and at least one person is always pretending not to listen to the table beside them.
Lakeside Tavern
Waterfront drinks, hearty food and a view across Raven Lake. Popular with anglers, walkers and anyone prepared to claim they came for the scenery.
The Greasy Moon
Kendall’s no-frills answer to hunger. Coffee, breakfast and portions large enough to cause a temporary reassessment of your afternoon plans.
Hipsy Mercer
Ashton Village bar with deep roots in Ravenlake’s music scene. Close to Relics, full of regulars and rarely the quietest choice available.

Eclectic menu, proper tables and one of the better dining-room views in Ravenlake.
The Juniper Room
Quiet, polished and definitely somewhere you book rather than wander into by accident.
Smoke on the Water
Smoked meats, grilled food and a less formal way to have dinner by Raven Lake.

Old-fashioned, comfortable and very good at making an evening disappear.
Sammy’s Dive Bar
Cheap drinks, familiar faces and no interest whatsoever in becoming fashionable.
Lakeside Tavern
A Raven Lake institution for anglers, locals and anyone passing through.
The Bent Nail
Neighbourhood local and one of the Magpies’ main gathering places.
Sweet Stuff
No nutritional claims are being madeBrain Freezers
Ice cream, sundaes, shakes and the annual November insistence that it is never too cold for ice cream.
Boobooba’s Shake Shop
Bright, sweet and particularly popular with Ravenlake’s after-school crowd.
Crumbs & Mercy
Cakes and pastries for anyone pretending they only came in for bread.
What’s Good Right Now
November 2025Cold weather, hot food.
November means cider, winter menus, darker beer and the point in the year when Ravenlake collectively remembers soup exists.
Look out for Thanksgiving specials toward the end of the month and Plaid Friday offers across Downtown and Ashton Village.
- Wesselbrook Farm: late-season apples, cider and preserves.
- Late Bloomer: winter beer appearing on the taps.
- Crumbs & Mercy: pies and seasonal baking.
- Half-Moon: November pie specials and bottomless coffee.
- Hunters Square: Winter Makers Market on 22 November.
