Ravenlake Life · Town Guide

Things to Do

Lakes, trails, arcades, galleries, hot springs, live music, ghost stories and several perfectly good reasons not to spend the whole weekend at home.

Start Here

Six very Ravenlake ways to spend a day
For the classic Ravenlake view

Walk Raven Lake

Start at Moonwhisper Beach, follow Stillwater Walk and pick up part of the Moonwhisper Trail. Bring decent shoes, something warm and enough time to stop looking at the lake every five minutes.

For a rainy afternoon

The Old Curtain Cinema

Ravenlake’s independent cinema mixes new releases with old films, cult favourites and occasional special screenings. Considerably easier than pretending rain builds character.

For a proper evening out

Relics

Ravenlake’s independent music venue and one of Ashton Village’s main gathering points. Check the listings for local bands, touring acts and regular alternative nights.

For something creative

Genesis Gallery

Contemporary art in the middle of Ashton Village, with exhibitions from Ravenlake artists alongside visiting work. Easy to combine with Dead Wax, Little Hex Courtyard and a drink nearby.

For doing absolutely nothing properly

Blue Lantern Hot Springs

Natural springs on the wooded edge of Alton. Come for an afternoon soak, stay into the evening and emerge considerably less interested in whatever was bothering you.

For competitive nonsense

Mayfair

Phantom Spirits Arcade, Alleycat’s Bowling, A-Hole Crazy Golf, Roller Ghoul and Grindstone Skatepark all within the same part of town. Losing gracefully remains optional.

Pick Your Ravenlake

Depends what kind of day you’re having
We’ve got three hours Raven Lake → coffee Downtown → Old Curtain Cinema.
Teen afternoon Phantom Spirits → Slappers → Grindstone Skatepark.
Quiet day Public Library → Genesis Gallery → Stillwater Walk.
Visitors in town Historical Society → Raven Lake → Blue Lantern Hot Springs.
Bit weird, please Ghost Tour → Cradle Stones → Oracle House.
Outside all day Ashbriar Falls → Whisper Pines Grove → Raven Lake.
It’s raining sideways Arcade → bowling → cinema. Oregon problem solved.
Almost no money Hunters Square → Genesis Gallery → lakeside walk → library.

Woodland waterfall reached from Ravenlake’s eastern trail network.

When It’s Raining

So, quite often

The Old Curtain Cinema

Downtown

Independent cinema with new releases, classics and special screenings.

Phantom Spirits Arcade

Mayfair

Arcade games, amusements and enough flashing lights to forget what the weather is doing outside.

Alleycat’s Bowling

Mayfair

Casual bowling, family sessions, parties and local leagues.

Roller Ghoul

Mayfair

Retro roller rink with public skating and themed nights.

A-Hole Crazy Golf

Mayfair

Miniature golf with very little dignity required.

Blue Lantern Hot Springs

Alton

Technically outdoors. Emotionally, sitting in hot water while it rains counts as winning.

Fun & Games

Families, friends and competitive grudges

Phantom Spirits Arcade

Mayfair

Ravenlake’s main arcade and a long-standing favourite with local teenagers.

Alleycat’s Bowling

Mayfair

Bowling for families, groups, dates and people who take bowling much too seriously.

A-Hole Crazy Golf

Mayfair

A full miniature-golf course and absolutely no promise that you will remain friends afterwards.

Roller Ghoul

Mayfair

Retro skating, parties and themed evening sessions.

Grindstone Skatepark

Mayfair

Concrete skate and BMX park used by Ravenlake’s younger crowd.

Wishbone Fairgrounds

Western Rural Fringe

Home to seasonal fairs, agricultural events, markets and visiting attractions.

Only in Ravenlake

We’re not saying every story is true

The Wobble in the Woods

Eastern Woods

Local landmark with a reputation for making distances, paths and slopes feel slightly less reliable than usual.

The Cradle Stones

Eastern Woods

Unusual standing stones surrounded by generations of Ravenlake folklore.

Ravenlake Ghost Tour

Kendall / Central Ravenlake

Guided evening walks through some of Ravenlake’s stranger stories, historical incidents and alleged hauntings.

Oracle House

Kendall

Spiritual and alternative centre offering readings, consultations and occasional public events.

Druid Circle

Beacon Trail

Woodland stone circle popular with walkers, photographers and Ravenlake’s spiritually inclined.

Old Viewtower

Northern Woods

Disused observation tower and a familiar landmark in Ravenlake’s northern forest.

A quick Ravenlake Life reminder: some industrial, research and wilderness sites around town are not public attractions. Closed mines, abandoned buildings and restricted facilities should be admired from somewhere you are actually allowed to stand.

Good Right Now

November 2025
Late autumn in Ravenlake

Cold, dark and actually rather good.

Raven Lake is moving into its winter season, the trails are quieter, the evenings are getting longer and Ravenlake’s indoor venues are considerably more attractive than they were in August.

Check trail conditions before heading into the woods and keep an eye on What’s On for seasonal markets, performances and winter events.

  • 8 November: Montrose Bonfire Night.
  • 14 November: Phantom Spirits After Dark.
  • 16 November: Ravenlake Then & Now walking tour.
  • 20 November: Strange Stories from Southern Oregon at Raven’s Quill.
  • 29 November: Ravenlake Winter Lights in Hunters Square.
